VLM Consulting was founded in 1997 with the mission of making financial insights accessible and understandable and moving information from reactive recording processes to proactive decision-making tools. Our clients range from small businesses to large institutions, from non-profit organizations to municipalities, and from start-ups to established corporations.

The founder of the company is Valerie Margulis whose broad experience enables her to understand both strategic corporate issues and the details of financial operations. Her clients have included Swedish Medical Center, Voyager Capital, and the City of Seattle. She has held financial management positions with several of the Seattle area’s prominent real estate developers and investors including Vulcan Inc., Wright Runstad & Company, and the Seneca Real Estate Group, of which she was a co-founder. As CFO for Stellar International, she worked in both Stockholm and Warsaw. Valerie began her career at Deloitte & Touche (then Touche Ross & Co.) She has a degree in French from the University of Washington and received her CPA certificate in 1977.
